Kitchen, part 1
{ PURE Beach Dream Home, posts #5 }

It has been a busy week, but what else is new!  Here is a peak at the start of our Beach Home kitchen design.  Some elements that I have to have:

  • Open shelving, which saves on our cabinet allowance plus I love the look.
  • White cabinets in a clean shaker style
  • Gray counter tops, hoping for quartz if we can fit it in our budget.

I will be adding color with custom pendant shades - in my fabrics of course - I can't wait to share this!!  The floors with be a rustic grade natural maple.  The kitchen is on the second floor with great views, a lot of windows, and a spacious deck - the ceilings are vaulted so it will feel big and airy.  It will be a BEAUTIFUL room!

I've been collecting Kitchen Inspiration for awhile on pinterest Here are a few of my favorites.

The kitchen is along one wall and has a huge 11 foot long island!

Up against the wall we will have a range, hood, refrigerator, open shelving, and pantry.  The range is in the exact middle of the room, and the modern range hood will have a chimney all the way up the vault - this will be very dramatic.

The island will have trash/recycle, dishwasher, sink, and microwave.  It is 42 inches deep and 11 feet long, seating for at least 5.  I love how the kitchen is part of the family room - a great place to hang out and entertain.

Bathrooms, part 1
{ PURE Beach Dream Home, posts #4 }

I have been planning the interior of our beach home for several years.  I'm always changing my mind!  For simplicity I'm keeping all the tile and fixtures the same in every bathroom - I will be adding color with paint and art in part 2.  I love classic white subway tile and a modern dark gray tile floor.  To save in cost we are doing pedestal sinks - I will add storage ideas in part 2.  All our fixtures are chrome - I love the shine, plus it is less expensive than the brushed finish.

I found some inspiration on pinterest I will of course be adding some color, which will make each bathroom unique. We have 3 bathrooms - see the floor plan here.

I found some wonderful (and affordable) tile!  I love the 12" x 24" dark gray tile - It is exactly what I was looking for at the right price!  The bright white subway tile is thicker than what I found at Home Depot and made in the USA, which is a plus!

It took me a while to find a rectangular pedestal sink in our budget.  This one is different because the bowl is oval, and it is $100s cheaper than the others I found.  We are only doing pedestal sinks in all our bathroom, because we love the look, and also because we save on cabinets!  I know storage will be an issue (I'll tackle this later) but when on vacation do you need a lot of storage??

A 1.28 gallons per flush toilet!!  Saving water!

Love the square shape of these faucets.  Really love the 1.5 gallons per minute shower head - saving more water!

Simple vanity lights and towel bars - square shape yet again!

That is it for today - Enjoy your 4th of July!
