I'm think of holiday decorating. I know it is early, but in Minnesota we just got our first snow, which puts me in the mood for the holidays! I wanted to share these whimsical modern holiday wreaths with you. More eco-friendly holiday ideas coming soon!

Beautiful recycled plastic...

While looking for a topic to write about, I came across the artist Caroline Saul. She creates beautiful, bulbous vessels from discarded plastic milk bottles. She also uses this medium to make light fixtures, cards, and other decorative objects. The colors, textures, and organic shapes are so lovely and artistic. Plus the photography is wonderful...

Organic Bedroom, Part II

When I talk about Organic Furniture (as opposed to organic fabric), I mean natural and not overly worked - more in an organic state. Also to get on my list, I used criteria including quality, sustainable or reclaimed wood, low VOC, and made in the USA. I am thrilled to find lot of crafts people creating beautiful, eco-friendly furniture - here are a few of my favorites organic beds!

How to recycle your old shoes...

This is simple. When your shoes wear out you can create something stunning, like this dress or ball pendant (who has the time or talent), donate them to charity (my boys destroy shoes so this won't work), or you can recycle them with Nike Reuse a Shoe program. Nike grins the shoes and creates sports flooring. Now that is easy, just toss the old shoes in your bag when you head out to the mall and drop them into the bin at any Nike store. But I do kind of like that dress!

Luxury Eco-Friendly Resorts

I must really need (or want) to go on vacation, because today I decided to look into eco resorts. I found a great site called Nature and Kind, which specializes in healthy and sustainable travel experiences. They are luxury, but when you are dreaming of a vacation why not think exotic and luxurious. I can afford to take off time right now, but maybe some day.... Here are a few of my favorites!

Unexpected candy inspiration...

Any one remember the "Marathon" candy bar? I though about it the other day while I was looking through my kids Halloween candy. Okay you got me, I was doing more than looking, I was eating it. Anyway the "Marathon" bar was one of my favorites... Sadly it is no longer being produced by Mars. Yesterday I was designing a new pattern, and I was surprised to see that it was very much like the braided chocolate and caramel candy bar I loved so much as a kid! I love when inspiration comes from unexpected places.
