What keeps you happy in the dead of winter???

It has been a brutal winter in Minnesota this year, and by brutal I mean COLD and by cold I mean FREEZING!!

I love this photo because it romanticizes winter, but in reality there is nothing romantic about -30 degree wind chills!!

 To make it through the winter I need several things:
  • Warm tea, coffee, coco...
  • Lots of layers, sweaters, scarfs, thick socks, and throws
  • COLOR!!  Bright happy color!
In the winter everything is gray and color always make me happy.  I look at my fabrics stacked around my office an I smile - they are so happy and bright!!  They brighten up my life during the dreadful, dead of winter.

So how do you get through the winter?!

DIY Island Pendant Recover!
{ PURE Beach Dream Home, post #10 }

This week I covered plain white pendant shades with our Bud Pattern Organic Fabric in Cayenne/Ink/Natural.  It was easier than I thought.  First I cut the fabric to size - about 2 inches bigger than the size of the shade.  I then ironed the fabric and used Stitch Witchery to hems 3 sides of the fabric (top, bottom, and one side). I used a spray adhesive on the back of the fabric and rolled it around the drum shade - smoothing out the wrinkles as I went around the shade.  I lined up the bottom of the shade perfectly with the bottom of the fabric - This made sure the pattern was straight.  At the top I made small slits to fit around the metal rungs, I then used fabric glue and folded the excess fabric over the top of the shade.  I also re-enforced the side seam with the fabric glue.  They turned out so cute!  These pendants will hang in the PURE Beach House above the 11ft kitchen island.  I can't wait to see them up!

Choosing interior paint colors for an entire house is always difficult, but I finally figured it out! My goal was to create a palette of colors that are tranquil and calming. Pops of color will be sprinkled throughout the house by my vibrant PURE Beach Collection of organic fabrics.  There will also be a lot of natural wood and fresh white painted trim, doors, and cabinetry. Everything is starting to come together!!

Family Room
{ PURE Beach Dream Home, posts #7 }

Our beach house family room is part of our kitchen and dining room - it is the heart of the home.  It is a huge space with 16' vaulted ceilings.  It is a little different than a traditional home because it is on the second floor with great views of the neighborhood and even a peek at the water.

To stay on budget, I'm re-using some furniture and a rug I have in inventory.  I will be adding new pillows from my PURE Beach Collection, which will brighten up the room and look great with the white, stainless, and gray kitchen.

I'm also adding a few well priced items to complete the space!  This console table is 55"W x 16"D - great size for behind the sectional.

I love short wide lamps on console tables.  This one has a fun round base - it is metal so if it tips it should not break!

The room will have a flat panel TV and I really like the retro feel of this TV console.  It is 70"W so it will balance the big sectional.  It is made of solid rubberwood, which is eco-friendly.  I know it is not made in the USA, but the price and solid construction makes it a good choice.

PURE Elements Collection

Just released - PURE Elements Collection!!  This collection of organic cotton canvas consists of some of my favorite patterns and colors.  It is different than my PURE Bliss and PURE Kick Collections because it is printed with low-impact reactive dye, which allows for deeper, richer, color, as well as, better wear and washability.  I'm so excited to share it with you!!

Sneak Peek { PURE Elements Collection }

Here is a sneak peek of my PURE Elements Collection!  There are a bunch more color combinations, which I will reveal later.  This new collection is not printed yet, but it will be in a month or so.  I'm so excited because the PURE Elements Collection will be printed with reactive dyes, which means:
  • Color is rich and deep
  • NO fading when machine washed
  • Can be used on heavy use upholstery
I will have more exciting news to share in the coming weeks - I have a feeling that this will be the best year yet!!

Just for kicks...

I had fun last week taking photos of my new PURE Kicks Collection of organic fabrics.  You may wonder about the name...  I was having fun messing around with my existing patterns - changing scale and colors - I did it just for "Kicks" OR the fun of it.  I loved the results so much I had the fabrics printed!  I'm so glad I did - I love the FRESH and FUN color combinations!!

Color sneak peek...

I'm just about ready to send my new patterns to the printer!!  Here is a sneak peek at my new color palette!  It includes:  dark gray, fresh green, turquoise, indigo, and mustard.  Of courses the colors will not appear all at once on the same fabric and they will be popped against light natural organic cotton, but I wanted to show you the entire palette.  I'm excited - I can't wait to share the actual fabric!!

What I've been up to....

It has been a busy time for me and blogging has not been my top priority.  All my time has been going into my new online PURE Inspired Design Home Store.  When I first started designing custom eco-friendly fabrics, rugs, and furniture, my goal was to be fun, modern, high quality, and affordable.  As time passed pricing became an issue (meaning to high for comfort) - my new online store is a dream come true because I feel very comfortable with the pricing, and it is still fun, modern, and high quality.  It is only the beginning - every season I will create 5 new patterns in a new color way - always keeping it fresh and fun!  I will also be adding products like shower curtains, accent furniture, bedding, lamps....  Love any input!!  What products and/or colors would you like to see?  I'm already dreaming up my next collection!!

Launching an affordable online store!!

Since I started designing fabrics and rugs, I've been dreaming of creating an affordable line, which I could offer through an online store.  Well, here it is!!  Over the last few weeks I have been designing my new online store, which currently features my new Summer patterns by the yard, flat weave wool rugs, and sample pillows.  I will be adding photography for the rugs as soon as I receive the samples.  Also I will be adding pillows, placemats, shower curtains...  Great thing is I can still offer CUSTOM colors for a small upcharge!

Let me know what you think - I would LOVE feedback and suggestions!!
